Five Easy Tips to Refresh Your Home

Five Easy Tips to Refresh Your Home

t’s still winter, the days are still short, and we’re all still spending a lot of time inside our homes! Are you getting bored with the view from your couch? Or are you trying to make a new house into a real home? Here are some easy tips to refresh the look of your home without breaking the bank.

  1. Whether your home is flooded with natural light, or stays cool in the shade, there’s a house plant that would love living on your windowsill. A prayer plant, with its beautiful, brightly marked leaves, would be an excellent addition if your home doesn’t get direct sunlight. If you’re looking for something that loves the sun, consider an aloe vera plant for bright greenery that’s easy to maintain.
  2.  Purchasing original art can elevate the look of your home, but can also come with a hefty price tag. So make your own! Grab colored pencils, water colors, or markers and let your inner artist go to work. You can also make a collage with colored paper. To finish, you can find inexpensive frames online that have the look of a custom framing job.
  3. Shift the lighting in your home. Directional lighting can make a big difference in the feel of a room, and good lighting can even make a room appear larger. Change the location of your lamps until you’ve achieved a cozy, but not cramped, ambiance.
  4. Dried flower bouquets are an easy way to add an elegant touch to any room. Air drying flowers is as simple as bundling your bouquet, tying it with string, and hanging them, petals toward the floor, for three weeks. Once preserved, display them anywhere and anyhow you’d like!
  5. You should love the scent of your home as much as you love the look of it. Candles are an obvious option, but homemade potpourri is beautiful and smells good. Potpourri can sit out in a bowl in your living room, or be put in sachets in your drawers or linen closet to infuse scent in your belongings.
